							<description><![CDATA[<p>This year's theme is After Afghanistan: Where To From Here? The conference will be examining the state and future of national security law-related issues in the era beyond active battlefields, including dealing with persisting threats of technology-empowered terrorists and with rising peer-competitors. Speakers include a prestigious group of scholars, policymakers and commentators who will take an interdisciplinary approach to all these issues from both a legal and a policy perspective. <br /><br />Luncheon and dinner speakers this year are General Michael Hayden (USAF, Ret.), former director of the CIA; Mr. Will Gunn, General Counsel, Department of Veterans Affairs, and Dr. Mac Owens, Professor of National Security Affairs at the Naval War College. The conference is free, but you must register to attend. 							<description><![CDATA[<p>The Annual Dougherty-Nelson Air Force JAG Corps CLE Conference (formerly known as the Air Force TJAG CLE) will be held 13-14 October 2011 at the George Mason School of Law in Arlington, VA.&nbsp; As a reminder, active duty, reserve, and retired personnel from all military services, as well as civilian attorneys, are invited.&nbsp; Again this year, there is no parking at the school and limited street (metered) parking.&nbsp; Metro is strongly encouraged (orange line to Virginia Square/GMU).<br />&nbsp;<br />The conference will satisfy several hours of your continuing education, including two (2) hours of professional responsibility.&nbsp; Payment for the conference is $40.00 and is due no later than 29 August 2011, but please note that slots fill quickly.&nbsp; Given the large number of potential registrants and the limited number of spaces, registration is scheduled to close on 6 September (or earlier if no seats remain).&nbsp; Also, please make certain you include your state bar(s) of licensure for CLE credit.<br /><br />Please complete the registration form <a href="http://www.jaa.org/templates/files/2011-annual-dougherty-nelson-af-jagc-conference-registration-form.pdf">linked here</a> and return it as soon as possible (but no later than 29 August 2011)  with your check for $40 payable to the &ldquo;JAG Fund&rdquo; to Lt Col John  McCarthy, 2424 Hyannis Lane, Crofton, MD 21114.<br />&nbsp;<br />If you have conference registration questions, please contact Lt Col John McCarthy via email at <a href="mailto:john.mccarthy@osd.mil">john.mccarthy@osd.mil</a> or phone at (703) 693-7374&nbsp; (DSN 223).</p>]]></description>
