"The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Chief Counsel, Continental District, is collecting applications for Staff Attorney positions to be filled in our Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Denver, New Orleans, Jackson MS, Muskogee, Little Rock, and/or Fayetteville AR offices. These positions will focus primarily on labor and employment law. The Office of Chief Counsel provides legal services to VA clients, including 23 health care systems, 176 medical clinics, 21 national cemeteries, and nine regional (benefits) offices, in Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado. Our labor and employment law attorneys provide day-to-day employment law advice and assistance to VA managers and supervisors within our area of responsibility. They also represent the Department in employment law litigation in forums like the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
These positions may be filled at the GS-11 to GS-14 level, depending on the selectee's experience and qualifications. The full performance level of the position is GS-14. The minimum requirements for the positions are U.S. citizenship, a Juris Doctorate, and an unrestricted license to practice law. Prior labor and employment and/or litigation experience (civil or criminal) is preferred but not required.
